Carrying Jasper wasn't so bad since we took turns, and Odin's cousin Jacob took care of the dawdling concern by playing a monster game with him. Odin and Jacob would run up ahead on the trail, then sit and wait until they saw us coming. At which point they would say "Here come the monsters!" and jump up and run ahead on the trail again.

This worked wonderfully for over 1/2 a mile until Odin stumbled and cut his knee on a rock when he fell. Fortunately he recovered quickly from his fall and was able to walk on his own, but he did tell Jacob "Let's not run so fast anymore." Instead, he let his attention be directed to finding and disappearing monsters in the woods using his magic wand (stick) we discovered for him along the path.
