Wood Chips Aren't for Eating

Jasper not only likes to grab everything, he also likes to put everything in his mouth. This means that several toys that Odin played with just fine, with no fear of impending choking, have now been put out of reach.

It also means that many many things that you simply can't move or don't even think about become fair game for showing up in Jasper's mouth.

Daycare had warned us before of Jasper's preference for eating wood chips when at the playground, but they usually do a pretty good job of stopping him. The other night at dinner, as Jasper was already eating his puffs, we noticed that it seemed like he was chewing on something larger than a puff.

So, I braved the sharp teeth of the baby mouth to do a quick check. A wood chip. Huh - he had left daycare nearly an hour earlier, so either he held on to that thing for a long time or found a wood chip on the floor of our house. Maybe he'll be a compulsive bubble gum chewer.
