Six weeks already!

Odin is six weeks old this week. It makes me feel bad for the journaling I haven't done to track his milestones, small as they are at this point. But, he has definitely smiled at me a couple times, he's followed an object from his far left to his far right, and he had all kinds of fun watching the babies in our yoga class. In general, he's a pretty normal baby - even the evening fussiness is not all that unusual (so we keep telling ourselves to help get through it). We did break down and get "The Happiest Baby on the Block" DVD last weekend; the techniques from the video seem to help calm him down in the evenings - we even figured out that the swing my friend Erica lent to us (in response to a desperate call from me) does work, he just can't be crying when we put him in it. So, while he's happily sleeping in his swing, I'm getting a blog entry up for the week.

Odin's had more outings this week - walks around the lake with the neighbor moms and babies, Yoga Bonding class, ECFE New Parent Connection class, and even the grocery store. The sling continues to be one the most helpful things we have - I was able to use both hands grocery shopping and when he started fussing during our latest walk around the lake, I popped him in his sling and he was all happy again.

Eric, James and baby Calvin brought dinner over and kept us company while Chad played poker tonight. Their hands are super blurry because they've got the butt-pat down to keep those babies happy. Odin slept the whole time James was holding him.
This is probably the last time Odin will fit into what was his going home outfit (you couldn't see it in any of the going home photos though, because it was too chilly to take him out of the swaddling). He wore it to the wedding last Friday, but was all covered up there, too. So, I got a quick picture when we got home.
This is one of my favorites. Both my boys sleeping last Sunday morning. A huge advantage of the co-sleeper is that we don't have to go far to comfort him in his sleep.
And Odin napping in his crib earlier this week. When he's really sleeping good, his hands seem to float up. Don't mess with the sleeping baby hands!
