Odin has started figuring out that people (and animals) other than his classmates have names. He is very clear that I am Mommy and Chad is Daddy (very bright, that boy is), and yesterday he discovered that he is Odin. So, now something (say a toy) is not just "mine," it is "Odin" and he sometimes will even announce himself coming into a room. I caught him talking to himself in the mirror at daycare last night; he had a bottle of water he was showing to himself:
"In there"
"Water"
"In there"
"Odin" (points to mirror)
He's also started saying Come Here and gesturing before he grabs our hand or leg to drag us where he wants to go. This morning though, he spotted the cat and wanted her to come over so he could pet her. We are always telling him to be nice to the cat while he is petting her, so now "nice" is apparently his word for "pet."
"C'mere. Kitty Cat. C'mere. Nice. Kitty Cat."
Once she got closer to his level, he walked over to her, saying "Nice" and gave her lovely back scratch.
